CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical alternative to liposuction that can freeze away and remove stubborn fat bulges. Coolsculpting is an FDA approved, office procedure that can be done on different areas of the body. Clinical studies have shown an average 23% reduction in fat after the first visit.
The most commonly treated areas are the chin, abdomen, hips, inner or outer thighs, arms, and back. Ideal candidates are within 20-25 pounds of their ideal body weight and are able to maintain a stable weight. Several treatments may be necessary to achieve the optimal result.
CoolSculpting® requires no anesthesia, sedation or incisions. You can immediately return to your normal work and fitness routine. CoolSculpting® is non-invasive “cold” technology. The technique uses cold to reduce fat cells through a process called “Cryolipolysis.” Following your treatment, the “frozen” fat cells immediately begin the process of dying, creating a localized inflammatory response allowing the body to naturally eliminate and dispose of the damaged fat cells over the next three months. Since fat cells are more sensitive to cold than other cells, the surrounding tissue is spared.
It is important to note that ideal candidates are in good shape but seeking a modest change. This fat-reduction technique will not take the place of an active lifestyle or healthy diet. During your consultation, we will help you determine if CoolSculpting® is right for you. Those seeking a more dramatic change may still benefit from traditional liposuction or a combination of treatments.
If you’ve been dieting and exercising for what seems like forever and you still can’t get rid of those stubborn fat bulges, now there’s an answer. At Lickstein Plastic Surgery, we offer CoolSculpting® as an effective and nonsurgical alternative to liposuction or abdominoplasty.
How CoolSculpting Works
This FDA-approved procedure works by freezing your fat cells with a cooling technology called Cryolipolysis. In the months following the procedure, the treated fat cells will begin the process of dying—creating a localized inflammatory response that allows your body to naturally eliminate and dispose of the damaged fat cells.
Other procedures, like lasers and tummy tucks, can be invasive and actually destroy the surrounding tissue as fat is extracted. But with CoolSculpting, your nearby tissue is spared and unharmed. So while it may be difficult to target only certain areas when you work out, with CoolSculpting it’s possible. Only the treated fat cells will be frozen. Your healthy tissue will remain healthy.
Since CoolSculpting requires no anesthesia, sedation or incisions, it’s becoming very popular with both men and women alike. While it can be used on almost any area of the body, the most commonly treated areas seem to be the chin, arms, stomach, love handles, back, hips and thighs.
We know you have options when it comes to choosing your CoolSculpting provider, but at Lickstein Plastic Surgery we have something that nobody else in the area has. We recently added the CoolAdvantage Petite™ Applicator to our practice, allowing us to better target unsightly upper arm fat.
Since more than 14 million people have voted fatty arms as the third most troubling area on their body, it was only necessary that we add this new, effective applicator to our CoolSculpting lineup.
Is it Right For You?
Ideal candidates are those who already have a healthy diet and active lifestyle. If you are able to maintain a stable weight and are within 20-25 pounds of your healthy weight, than CoolSculpting may be right for you.
Most of our patients are already in pretty good shape, but are seeking a modest change to their overall physique. Clinical studies show an average of 23 percent in fat reduction after just one treatment. But depending on your aesthetic goals, you may wish to receive additional treatments for more dramatic results.
When you come in for an initial consultation, Dr. Lickstein will take the necessary time to thoroughly discuss the procedure. He will help you determine the areas that require treatment and draw up a plan that works for you.
We encourage you to come to us with your questions and concerns, as we want to help inform you about the CoolSculpting experience.
