Are Gummy Bear Implants Safe?
Gummy bear implants are a newer addition to the breast augmentation landscape. Though they have had fewer years to prove their safety and efficacy, they are FDA-approved and considered a safe alternative to silicone or saline implants.
Breast implant rupture or leaking is a concern with any type of implant. Gummy bear implants tend to leak less frequently because they generally do not develop the creasing that can strain the outer shell and cause a rupture. It is not impossible for a gummy bear implant to rupture, however, and if a leak does occur, it may be harder to detect than a saline implant leak.
If a gummy bear implant shifts out of place, additional surgery will be required to correct the implant. Regular screenings with your doctor are essential regardless of which type of implant you choose.
